Why a Gala?

Exactly 40 days after Christmas, we celebrate that the Lord is brought out of that blessed manger to be presented to the world. If we are to form a community, then so must we go out and present ourselves.

Let us then celebrate with a beautiful night of music and dance, of food and drink, to meet others and form a true community of faithful. Inspired by the world that was, we are delighted to present you with an evening of live jazz music, ballroom dancing, and an elevated selection of food and drink. In return, we expect you to dress the part and participate in dancing and socialising.

The Netherlands Catholic Youth is an organisation which, for the past years, has organised nine (!) events for and by young, lay Catholics. During these events, the NCY has aimed to bring together the entirety of the International and Dutch Catholic communities for lectures, meetings and recreation. Beyond that, the NCY manages a Catholic WhatsApp group of 800+ people allowing for events, discussion and requests to be shared to the wider community, connecting the Catholics in the Netherlands.

It is with pride that we present to you our tenth event: The Candlemass Gala!

The Gala will be completely different from all of our previous events. Not only will this be our first event with a ticket price, of which the profit will help ensure our regular events stay free, but it will also provide a completely different atmosphere: no lectures or breakout groups, but dancing and music! Our goal is to bring the NCY community together in a different light, to help us see each other in a new way, and so to forge even closer connections.
